The Short Answer
Choose Personal if you are renting as an individual — a freelancer, contractor, or independent professional — and you do not have a registered business entity.
Choose Enterprise if you are renting on behalf of a company. Enterprise is required for servers, rack-mount systems, enterprise storage, fleet deployments, higher-value configurations, and NET payment terms.
Every Skorppio account, regardless of type, requires identity verification before you can rent.
Personal Accounts
Who it's for: independent professionals or small teams renting equipment personally, without a registered business entity. Typical Personal customers are freelance VFX artists, independent ML researchers, solo developers, contract editors, and consultants working project to project.
What you get:
Real-time pricing — see your rate instantly as you configure duration and hardware.
Access to a limited catalog of compute — workstations and laptops suited to single-operator workflows.
Expert support when you need it — the same technical team backs every rental.
Flexible short-term rentals — rent for the length of your project, with no minimum commitment.
What's required:
Identity verification prior to renting. Government ID plus a real-time selfie, handled through Stripe.
A payment method with auto-pay enabled. Personal accounts are prepaid — charges are collected automatically against your card or bank account. The payment method must belong to the individual who owns the account.
A security deposit, or an Accidental Damage Waiver (ADW). You choose one. See Loss, Damage, and Equipment Protection for how each works.
Skorppio may also request bank account verification on higher-value or longer-duration rentals, regardless of account type.
Equipment Limits on a Personal Account
There is no fixed cap on the number of units you can rent. Access is governed by the total value of the equipment on the order and by product class.
Not available on a Personal account:
Servers and rack-mount systems
Enterprise storage arrays
Multi-unit and fleet deployments
Configurations above the Personal account value threshold

Enterprise Accounts
Who it's for: teams and organizations renting through a registered business entity and requiring enterprise-grade compute access. Studios, production companies, research labs, AI and ML teams, and any operation deploying more than a single machine.
What you get:
Access to our full inventory catalog — every workstation, server, storage, and networking product Skorppio carries, with no value ceiling.

Preferred pricing on volume orders — rates improve with unit count and rental duration.
Dedicated support and account management — a named point of contact who knows your deployment.
What's required:
A registered business entity and Tax ID. The entity on the account must be the entity on the rental agreement.
Business-owned payment methods and bank accounts. Every payment method and bank account associated with an Enterprise account must be held in the name of the registered business entity. Personal credit cards, personal debit cards, and personal bank accounts are not accepted — not for billing, and not for financial verification.
Identity and financial verification. Identity verification for the authorized signer, plus verification of a business bank account through Stripe Financial Connections for payment risk assessment and NET term eligibility. This is not a consumer credit check.
A commercial insurance policy. Enterprise accounts must carry commercial coverage and provide a certificate of insurance (COI) before equipment ships. Upload it from the Documents tab under Account in your portal.
Why Enterprise Accounts Require Business Payment Methods
An Enterprise account is underwritten against the business entity, not against an individual. The entity named on the account, the entity named on the rental agreement, the insured party on the certificate of insurance, and the account holder on the payment method all have to be the same party.
Connecting a personal bank account or card to an Enterprise account breaks that chain. It gives Skorppio no verifiable financial picture of the business, so financial verification cannot complete and NET terms cannot be extended.
What this means in practice:
The bank account you connect through Stripe Financial Connections must be a business account held by the registered entity. A sole proprietor's personal checking account does not qualify.
Cards on file must be corporate or business cards issued to the entity. A founder's or employee's personal card cannot be used, even if the business reimburses it.
The name on the payment method must match the legal entity name on the account and Tax ID. Mismatches will fail verification and hold up your order.
If your business does not yet have its own bank account or card, open a Personal account instead, within the Personal catalog and value limits, and move to Enterprise once your business banking is in place.

Rules That Apply to Both Account Types
These are set by the Skorppio Terms of Service and your executed rental agreement, and they do not vary by account type.
All equipment is rented, never sold. Title and ownership remain with Skorppio at all times.
Equipment stays in the continental United States. Transporting, exporting, or shipping rented equipment outside the continental US without prior written consent is a material breach.
No resale or sub-rental. You may not resell, sub-rent, sub-license, loan, pledge, modify, or reverse-engineer any Skorppio hardware or configuration.
A quote is not a contract. The customer portal is a quotation and pre-contract workflow. A binding rental exists only when a written rental agreement is executed and all conditions precedent — verification, insurance, deposits, initial payment — are satisfied.

Which Should I Choose?
Choose Personal if:
You are renting under your own name and do not have a registered business entity.
You need one or a few workstations or laptops for a project.
You want to book quickly and pay as you go.
Your business does not yet have its own bank account or corporate card.
Choose Enterprise if:
You are renting on behalf of a company, studio, or institution.
You need servers, rack-mount compute, enterprise storage, or networking.
You are deploying multiple systems, or a fleet of identical units.
You need invoicing on NET terms, a PO-based workflow, or volume pricing.
Your finance or procurement team needs to be on the account, and the business has its own banking and cards.
If you are between the two, open the account that matches how you will sign the rental agreement and how you will pay. The entity that signs is the entity that must be on the account — and on the payment method.
Can I Change My Account Type Later?
Yes. If you started as Personal and your needs have grown — you have incorporated, or you now need server-class hardware — contact us and we will move you to an Enterprise account. You will need to complete the Enterprise requirements: business entity and Tax ID, a business bank account and business payment method, financial verification, and a certificate of insurance. Existing rentals continue under their original agreements.
