Your Responsibility During the Rental Period
From the moment equipment arrives at your location until it is received back by Skorppio, you are responsible for its care. That includes keeping it in a suitable operating environment, using it within published specifications, and returning it in the same condition it shipped — normal wear excepted.
If equipment is lost, stolen, or damaged beyond normal wear during your rental, you may be responsible for repair or replacement costs up to the full replacement value of the hardware.
What Counts as Normal Wear
Normal wear includes minor cosmetic marks from everyday use — small surface scratches on chassis panels, light scuffing on case exteriors, and similar signs of standard professional use. Normal wear does not include cracked screens, bent chassis, liquid damage, missing components, or any condition that impairs the equipment's function or resale readiness.
Accidental Damage Waiver (ADW) — Coming Soon
Skorppio is launching an optional Accidental Damage Waiver (ADW) program. ADW is a contractual waiver — not insurance — where Skorppio agrees to waive or reduce certain charges for accidental physical damage to eligible rented equipment during your rental term.
ADW is designed to reduce the financial surprise of accidental damage in real-world workflows. If an accident happens and ADW applies, you are responsible only for the deductible and any amount up to the per-incident cap confirmed on your order.
What ADW Covers
ADW may apply to accidental physical damage from normal, permitted use — drops, impacts, or accidental breakage that requires repair or replacement beyond normal wear.
What ADW Does Not Cover
Theft, disappearance, or unexplained loss
Liquid damage, smoke, corrosives, or environmental exposure outside published operating requirements
Intentional damage, abuse, reckless use, or gross negligence
Unauthorized users, subrental, or moving equipment away from the delivery address without written approval
Modifications, disassembly, non-approved repairs, firmware flashing, or non-approved configuration changes
Power misuse, including incorrect voltage or failure to use required power conditioning where specified
Missing items including cables, adapters, drives, cases, foam, labels, and accessories
Data loss, downtime, missed deadlines, lost profits, or other consequential losses
ADW Eligibility and Pricing
ADW is available on eligible equipment tiers based on replacement cost and portability risk. Individual customers may add ADW on select Tier 1 and Tier 2 equipment. Business customers may be eligible for Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 equipment, with additional requirements for higher-value deployments.
ADW is priced as a percentage of eligible rental charges and billed on the same cadence as your rental. Individual accounts are billed at 15 percent of eligible rental charges. Business accounts are billed at 12 percent.
Deductibles and Per-Incident Caps
If ADW applies, your responsibility is limited to the deductible and any amount up to the per-incident cap. Each incident is evaluated separately. There is no aggregate ADW cap over the rental term.
TIER 1: Available to individuals and businesses. Deductible minimum and per-incident cap are confirmed at checkout based on the replacement cost of your equipment.
TIER 2: Available to individuals and businesses on higher-value equipment. Higher deductible minimum and per-incident cap apply.
TIER 3: Available to business accounts only on the highest-value equipment. Proof of commercial insurance is required in addition to ADW.
Your specific tier, replacement cost, deductible, and cap are confirmed at checkout and on your order. If this page conflicts with your order terms, your order controls.
Replacement Cost
Replacement cost means the cost to replace the equipment with the same model or closest equivalent specification, based on documented supplier pricing or prevailing US pricing from major authorized channels, plus applicable tax, shipping, and standard replacement configuration. Supporting documentation is available on request.
Insurance Requirements for Large Commercial Orders
For higher-value commercial deployments, Skorppio requires proof of insurance even if ADW is selected. Qualifying orders must provide commercial property or inland marine coverage that includes rented equipment, commercial general liability coverage, and a certificate of insurance meeting Skorppio's requirements.
Shipping and Transit Coverage
If Skorppio arranges shipping, ADW may apply to accidental physical damage during transit subject to these terms. If you arrange your own shipping or packaging, ADW does not apply to transit risk — you are responsible for shipping insurance and any transit-related loss or damage.
Reporting Damage
Report any incident as soon as practical and within 24 hours of discovery when reasonably possible. If you cannot report within 24 hours, ADW may be limited only to the extent the delay materially prejudices Skorppio's ability to verify the incident or mitigate damage. If an impact event occurs and you are unsure whether damage exists, report the event — internal damage discovered during inspection may still be eligible.
When equipment is returned, Skorppio inspects and may run diagnostics. You will receive a written determination with a summary of the basis, and you may request supporting documentation. If you disagree with a determination, notify Skorppio within five business days so the dispute can be reviewed before charges finalize.
Without ADW — Full Responsibility
If you do not add ADW to your order, you are responsible for the full cost of repair or replacement for any damage, loss, or theft that occurs during the rental period. This is defined by the replacement cost of the affected equipment.
ADW Availability
ADW is currently in development and will be available soon. Create an account to check ADW eligibility for your equipment and to receive launch updates.
